Project Highlights

Throughout the past three months of planning, filming, editing, and revising, there have been a few key events that have occurred that caused changes in the final result of the project. The first key event would be the meeting with our teacher after he graded the midterm. Originally, my group and I were planning to create a whole new idea and plan for our final film project, and just considering the midterm as a practice. Then once our midterm was graded, I consulted my group and asked if it would be a good idea to see what critiques Mr. Zacharias had for us before continuing to brainstorm ideas. Once we met with him, he told us we did very well and should keep the idea from our midterm, but make it even better for the final project. This was a key event, because if we had not asked him before beginning to plan, we would have had a completely different plot for the final.

Another key event that occurred was during planning. While I was planning characters for the film. I realized that in our midterm, we had to use an outside participant (Alyssa's Dad) to play the role of the kidnapper. I thought it may improve our film if we found a male in our class to play that role, rather than an outside participant. I then asked Ryne Sutherly what his plan was for the final and he told me he was planning to work alone. this is when I asked my group what they thought about asking Ryne to join us and they agreed it would help bring our project to the next level. I consider this a key event, as it added an additional person to the group, and created space for more ideas and creativity to take place within the planning, filming, and editing of the project.

The last key detail I would like to include occurred during editing. We reached the final stage of editing, and after watching it I felt like something was missing. I presented the idea to my group of creating a missing poster and getting a shot of Ryne hanging it up. If we ended with that as our final scene, it would create a more intensity and mystery for the audience. We then created the missing poster, filmed Ryne hanging it up at, and added it into the project. This final scene is a key event that occurred because I believe it help bring the final film project to the next level and seem more professional than before.
