Week 4: 1

My group and I just completed filming over the weekend, and it went well. We all met at Isabella's house at 3pm to begin. We chose to meet later in the day because the scenes shot outside need to be close to sunset to create an eerie feeling for the audience and reenforce the stereotype that young girls being alone at night never ends well. We decided to film the "getting ready" scenes in Isabella's sister's bedroom because she has the most natural lighting, but also has black out curtains incase we wanted to include more artificial lighting. I set up the bed with dresses and purses to show the girls have been getting ready. I also set up makeup on the desk, and clothes piled up in the closet for the scene where we throw them. Having everything set up in a specific way helped the final film opening to flow better an have a higher level of continuity, which is something we had lacked in the practice midterm. I also helped set up Ryne's car with the chainsaw, axe, gloves, and rope.

We ended up not using all the equipment we had borrowed from the teacher, and instead only used the small microphones, small light, and hand held steadicam. everything else ended up being unnecessary, and I believe it would have made the film look less professional if the angles were not as perfect as we could make them by having one of the groups members hold the steadicam. We ran into a few challengesduring the Facetime scene, but as a group we decided the best way would be by using the blackout curtains to make the room dark and having one of us hold the microphone, while another holds a phone that had rainbow flashing lights up to Rynes face. While this occurred, he filmed himself so it looked like a FaceTime call. Although this was a challenge to figure out at first, we eventually got it taken care of as a group. Other then that, everything moved smoothly. Having multiple takes of each scene using different shots/ angles, as well as acting was the most fun for me. I enjoy getting dressed up and doing my makeup for fun. My group is also made up of people I am already friends with, so that made it fun as well. Overall, filming took about 4 hours and I am very happy with how it went.
