Week 3: 1

Today, I did research on other crime genre films and watched a few introductions to those movies. I did this to help me obtain a better understanding of what this film should look like, and what editing should go into it to ensure the viewers are fully understanding the horror and crime genre we are going for. Here, I discovered that incidental music is very important. I also discovered that the music in the background is important, because sometimes, the viewer will not realize it is there, and it contributes to a subconscious and uneasy feeling.

I also discovered the importance of lighting, and how it provokes different emotions from the viewer. For example, darker and dimmer lighting contributes to the scary look, whereas bright light may signify innocence or happiness. I also got a better understanding of how lighting helps to set the scene more effectively, and make the scene more believable. This is when we decided it would be a good idea to make sure we include background noise of people talking, and colored lights to Ryne's face during the party scene. This will create the effect of a real party.
