Activity 3.14

     For this assignment, I need to choose social groups and explain the stereotypes that are often associated with them. I then need to provide an example of where this stereotype is shown in a film. This will be helpful, as I will be incorporating stereotypes into my final project so that it makes sense to the viewer, and they can see they type of "image" we want each character to have. 

Social group	Stereotypes associated with the group	Examples from the media that support this stereotype
Gender	Men are tough and emotionless, while women are weak and emotional.	In the original Superman movie, Clark saves Lois from a helicopter crash and becomes the “hero”, because she can’t help herself. This follows the idea that women can’t do anything without a man.
Age	Young people are stupid and older people are wise.	In the movie, A Christmas Story, the little boy wants a gun, but his father talks down to him telling him he is too young to follow his dreams of being in the military. This follows the idea that older people are wiser than younger people.
Religion	Religious people are prudes, believe you will go to hell if you don't agree with them.	In the show Unorthodox, a girl is running away from her orthodox Jewish church because they are too harsh. This follows the idea that religious people are “too much”.
Ability/ Disability	People with disabilities are incompetent, and able people are inherently better.	In the book Wonder, the little boy who is disabled is bullied and has people doing everything for him. This supports the idea that disabled people are incompetent.
